Rico Auto 50-Day Strike Ends

(RTTNews) - Rico Auto Industries Ltd. said the labour disturbance/unrest at its Gurgaon Plant was resolved amicably, with the workers ending their around 50-day strike following an agreement with the management on reinstatement of some employees.

As per the agreement, out of the total 16 suspended workers, the management has agreed to revoke the suspension of eight, while one worker will be absorbed after one month. Seven workers who indulged in indiscipline will be investigated by State (Haryana) Labour Department and action will be taken accordingly, Vice-President (HR Corporate) Surinder Singh Chaudhary said. The agitating workers decided late last evening to end the strike Chaudhary said incentives and other issues like salary increase will be decided, after comparing with those of other leading companies located in and around the Gurgaon-Manesar area.

The workers went on strike from September 17 demanding hike in salary and recognition of their union, among other things. The strike became violent on October 18, as clashes broke out between two groups of workers that lead to the death of a 26-year-old employee.
