Death Toll In China Mine Explosion Rises To 87
(RTTNews) - The death toll in Saturday's explosion at a coal mine in a northeastern Chinese city bordering Russia has risen to 87, reported state-run news agencies on Sunday.
State-run Xinhua news agency reported quoting officials on Sunday that another 21 people are still missing after the gas explosion, which ripped through the Xinxing Coal Mine in Hegang city of China's Heilongjiang province a day earlier.
The latest estimated death toll is more than double the earlier reported figure of 31. Earlier reports indicated that at least 528 miners were working in the pit wh (continued...)
